I created this blog in 2004 to document my transition from a traditional art program in which students complete art lessons chosen by the teacher to an art program where the students choose the art they wish to make....in essence...behaving like an artist.

This in absolutely fabulous blog -I can't wait to trawl through all your archives for inspiration!
What size classes do you have?
just found your blog doing some research for my own art teaching project- like the concept and my brain is wondering how it can happen here- we have no dedicated classroom for art, no budget, no teachers except volunteers, but anything is possible if you use your imagination!
I've been considering choice=based art ed recently because I've noticed that on the off days before holidays when I set out centers, students seem so engaged and creative. Sometimes during a normal art lesson, it's difficult to inspire all kids and it feels like I'm actually killing their natural creativity. I like all that you've done here and your constant revising really shows that you're assessing and reflecting. Great blog.
